We have taken up hiking again and it is safe to say that the Sorenson family missed it......a lot! We attempted a couple of hikes in May that were pretty much a disaster (like hiking in sand, who hikes in sand???) But now that the weather is much cooler we ventured up to Red Spring which is just outside of Red Rock Canyon. We might be a bit obsessed - we went up 4 times last week and talked about going again tonight. This hike is perfect for all of us - Livvy is a great climber and only wants us to hold her on the way back (usually) - on Saturday we went for 2 1/2 hours....some of it was sitting on those beautiful red rocks and watch a bunch of different people rock climb, but most of it was climbing and exploring. There is something about the landscape here that is so energizing and soothing to my soul. And it is a place that Jeremy feels he can "breathe" again.

It's Been A While....
It's been awhile - again...but we've been busy at the Sorenson household. The twins have been taking 1st grade by storm and have endless stories *sigh* to tell mom when she picks them up each day. Livvy misses her "guhls" and cries almost every morning that we drop them off at school. September and October flew by - we are already counting down the days until we get to see the VanDyke's at Thanksgiving and can't believe Christmas and the twins 7th birthday are right around the corner.
Here are a few things we've done over the past couple of months:
trips to the park, movie nights, 2 trips to Bass Pro, 1 Trip to
a Pumpkin Patch, 3 trunk-or-treats and many, many
pictures taken ofmostly Livvy all of us just because. Enjoy!

Gracie, Whitney & Livvy: The Final Jam
We watched Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam tonight for movie night. If you watch the Disney channel at all you know that they have been playing "sneak peeks" of all the songs in the movie all summer. The twins and Livvy were singing along to every song - they started dancing and I just thought it was so stinkin' cute - especially Gracie in the background just doing her thing. Side note: Whitney is wearing a pajama top from 2 years ago - it was the "grubby" shirt she chose to wear when she got home from school. Enjoy!!!

Popscicles and School
Yesterday the girls wanted an afternoon snack - actually they want a snack about every hour but I try to get them to hold out for just one. Anyway, they wanted popscicles and this is what happened:
Livvy was trying to "share" her popscicle with Gracie while Whitney was trying to outline Gracie in chalk......
The twins first day of school FINALLY arrived - I say finally because me and Jer had heard enough about their excitement - at least once every hour since Friday. They were so cute and SO excited to be back at school - reminds me of myself. I used to look forward to the new school year each summer. Livvy was a little lost today - she missed her "guhls" and cried when we said goodbye at their door this morning. She was also a little upset that she brought her backpack and didn't get to go to school =)

They ended up having a great day and can't wait to do it again tomorrow!

Basketball, Boots and Fun
The twins just finished up their first season of basketball last night. They had so much fun and improved a lot. Jeremy was their coach and he got his first taste of a crazed mom who apparently thinks the most important thing is to get the W (it definitely was a jaw-dropping experience) and a grandfather that would sit on the bleachers under the basket and "coach" the kids during each game.....he had a deep loud voice and would tell the kids the opposite of what they were coached to do for defense. Interestingly enough (but not really surprising) he is the father of crazed mom. Some of the highlights of the season was Whitney started catching the ball when it was passed to her, Gracie made her first basket in a game while Grandma & Grandpa VanDyke were visiting and both those girls are pretty dang good on defense.
Livvy had a hard time sitting in the bleachers - she wanted to be with Daddy & Sisters.
They have made Livvy very happy and definitely added sunshine to my days:

Grandma & Grandpa VanDyke came for a visit over the 24th of July. Let's just say that my Dad was very relieved to see where we live. He said we definitely do NOT live in Vegas - he's just going to tell people we live in Summerlin. We had fun - I'm pretty sure they left tired and happy to return home =). Grandma took me and the girls to see "Despicable Me" on Friday and it was so very cute. We went out to dinner - very brave considering we took Livvy and she didn't have a nap that day. We went to the twins basketball game, swimming over at Jeff & Melinda's where Jeremy harrassed my mom during our game of keep away, pizza and some good talking, church (both of my parents opted out of joining us in our callings during the meeting - Jer is a nursery leader and I teach the twins primary class), and they were back on the road before we knew it. We had such a good time - I truley am blessed to have the parents that I do.
We've had a great month. Until next time....
