We went and did our visiting teaching today and I was in charge of sharing the message and I was especially touched by this quote from Elder Richard G. Scott:
"You cannot today remotely imagine what that decision to be unwaveringly obedient to the Lord will allow you to accomplish in life. Your quiet, uncompromising determination to live a righteous life will couple you to inspiration and power beyond your capacity now to understand."
Don't you just love that? I would have to say at the end of each day I think about all that I would have done differently with the kids, the house, etc. and feel like I come up short more often than not - and what a comfort it is to know if I am obedient I can accomplish more than I can comprehend.
I would also encourage all of you to take a look at the whole visiting teaching message. It was truly inspiring.

My Food Storage Deals
I have had a couple of you inquire about My Food Storage Deals - here is the info.I have posted about this service before, but am happy to do it again because it has been such an eye opener for me. This great girl in Utah - I'm thinking she lives in the Herriman area - started a blog a while back just kind of for some information on food storage. She is amazing! Her approach to food storage is pretty different than I have been accustomed to - and maybe it's just because I'm a little slow - but her theory is to have your storage room be more like a store - having items you and your family REALLY use for your years supply, that way you are rotating it constantly and 20 cans of honey are not just sitting in your basement =).

She has a blog called http://myfoodstoragedeals.blogspot.com/ and she has TONS of great ideas on how to acquire your food storage. In addition to that she has a website, in which, for just $9.95 a month, she will e-mail you every week the ads for the 5 major grocery stores in Utah, highlighting the deals which are the best, how much of each item you need for the year and THEN she e-mails you meals for the week using the items from the ads and a shopping list for those meals. I think for like $5.95 you can just get the ads. It is great! For me it has totally "modernized" food storage and her approach to the whole thing is very doable. She will even give you a two-week free subscription to her services - if you don't want to do that at least check out her blog and let me know what you think.

By the way, for you out of staters, I pay $8/month for the two services because I can only really use the Albertsons & Macey's ads (Macey's is pretty close to Broulims).

Happy New Year, Happy Birthday
Been a while since I blogged. I keep thinking things are going to slow down now that the holidays are over (for a bit, Hello! President's Day =)) and the twins had their birthday, but no, time is still going just as quickly and may have even picked up momentum heading into 2009. Whew!
New Years Eve was wild and crazy as usual. Well, me, Jer and the kids ate Chinese food, played Princess Yahtzee and watched a movie. Wahoo! The kids fell asleep around 10 p.m. and we were both in bed before midnight. We are crazy. The girls favorite part of New Years Eve was wearing the party tiara's and blowing the horns!
For the twins birthday we took them bowling, to the arcade and to see the movie Bolt (which we all highly recommend). We had a really good time - except when Livvy fell out of her Bumbo when we had her on top of the table while we were bowling - luckily she landed on a chair right by one of the twins and just had a couple of red marks on her head the rest of the day - not one of our proudest moments, but she seems to have recovered except for when she occasionally goes cross-eyed (just kidding!!!)

The twins got BEAUTIFUL dresses from Grandma Dana and Grandpa Lynn for their birthdays and love to wear them to church - here they are after church last Sunday and some pictures of Livvy in her cute new dress she got from Grandma Dana and Grandpa Lynn for Christmas - and surprises of all surprises, she is NOT in her her exersaucer!
Jeremy, in his infinite wisdom, talked me into buying the twins an art set, let me rephrase that, a paint set for their birthdays. They love it and as you can see, so does Jer....
One last thing, as most of you know, I cannot say enough about the service I pay for through My Food Storage Deals. It has helped me immensely and gives me great comfort knowing we are making a conscious effort to follow the Prophets counsel in accumulating our years food storage - I just wanted to share with you what I bought this weekend at Albertsons with help from Shandra (My Food Storage Deals)....
6 boxes of Bisquick
10 boxes of Pasta Roni
4 boxes of Fiber One granola bars
9 boxes of Hamburger Helper
20 containers of Yoplait yogurt
5 lbs boneless pork chops
5 lbs boneless chicken breasts
All for a grand total of $57.09 - I saved $87.11. I know Albertson's is a bit pricier than the other stores, but still, it was such a great deal. And I am headed back today to buy cereal.....who'd of thunk I'd get so excited about this stuff?
