All About the Twins

A lot has happened for our little family since my last post.... the twins finished up their second round of swimming lessons and they were AMAZING!!! I was a little worried when they finished up their pike class in July (that is code for beginner). I decided to go ahead and move them up to eels (that is code for not a beginner, but not even close to an expert). Gracie was having issues with not plugging her nose when she went under water and Whitney was telling me she was putting her face in the water without her nose plugged, but in all acuality she was giving herself a quick dunk. So I did what any good mother would do - I threatened them, and when that didn't work I bought them goggles. It was as if a fairy came down and sprinkled them with swimming dust.... they were swimming under water, floating on their backs, doing countless "bobs" to show me how many times they could go under water without plugging their noses, jumping into the pool....you catch my drift. On their last day of class I was SO proud of them I almost started crying. Here are a few pictures of the little rays (that is the class they will be in next summer)....

They are growing up so quickly. They are starting to take the whole playing with barbie's thing very seriously - there are numerous outfit changes and rearranging of the barbie house furniture each time they play. They have started doing weird things that makes the other one laugh hysterically and makes me giggle because they have the best laughs. My favorite thing they do at the moment is let Livvy "chase" them around the kitchen and family room. They run screaming and laughing from her and Livvy runs straight-legged after them screaming and laughing too - it is pure joy in our house when this happens.

Here are some random pictures of the girls....I really think Whitney takes after her dad in these next few photos.

And last, but not least, the twins started KINDERGARTEN on August 10th. I was having many issues with this - mostly just feeling bad for myself that my girls were growing up and they have been the center of each day of my life for the past 5 1/2 years. When the bus came around the corner to pick them up Monday morning I fought back the tears and only cried a little bit on the way home (to be fair I had cried A LOT the two days prior to that). They were so excited and have really had a good time so far. They come home and we do a "lunch check" to see how much of their lunch that I packed them they really ate, and they show me all of their stuff they did that day and then I think about how much I missed them and how happy I am that they are home and how having them gone all day is SO hard, then they start fighting and whining about being hungry and I can't help but wish is was 7:53 a.m. the next morning and they were on that bus =). Here are some pictures from the first day of school - they really wanted to wear their backpacks on one shoulder....so funny.

Did you notice, when the girls came home that first day, that they looked a ton older than they did when they left? I couldn't figure out how much my kids seemed to change during those few hours. They look so good. We sure love you guys and miss you tons!

Oh, so cute! I can relate to the whole crying thing...I thought I would be so excited to get rid of Dawson, but he is starting next week and now both of my boys will be gone and I am SO sad! It really is crazy how fast they grow up...Your girls are darling, I hope they are having fun at school:)

Oh, they're so cute! Who said they could get big so fast?

And what's up with Whitney's hair in those pictures? what happened?

Also-thank you for introducing the magic of 'water goggles' to Savannah, they have also changed her swimming life.

the girls do seem a lot older - especially when they come home and tell me about their day and all of the stuff they learned. today i asked gracie to do something for me after she got home and she just started crying and said - i just don't think i can, i've been working all day.

whitney's hair is an entity unto itself - she went to bed with her hair still wet from the shower and that combined with the fact that she sleeps with her covers over her head results in what we call her lioness hair...
